Palo Verde Energy Education Center
Owner: APS Square Footage: 32,000 Location: Buckeye, AZ Description: The Palo Verde Energy Education Center was designed to serve as a base for emergency operations in the event of a crisis at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, located only 22 miles away. During non-emergency times, the 32,000 SF building is used as a technical training and education facility. The facility includes an emergency operations room, which contains its most critical communication technologies; a 222-seat auditorium, which can be used for public briefings or training purposes; four additional training spaces; a food preparation and serving area; and offices. The $7 million building has achieved LEED Gold Certification.
