City of Phoenix Police Training Academy

Arrington Watkins Architects was presented with a previously completed master plan for the expansion of the City of Phoenix Police Training Academy. Due to the concerns of adjacent property users, the location of the proposed expansion on a portion of the site covered by the Hillside Ordinance, and the presence of hazardous waste restrictions from the old firing ranges, the existing master plan was financially unfeasible and functionally unusable. An intensive master planning, programming and design period resulted in a revised master plan and an expansion design that was accepted and implemented within the existing budget. The 25,000 square feet of additions consisted of administrative offices, training classrooms, physical training rooms, locker/shower facilities, and munitions storage. Renovation of 30,600 square feet of existing building included training, staff offices, classrooms, computer labs, tactical training, auditorium and recruit dining.</

Phoenix Police Training Academy Tactical Village

PROJECT DETAILS:
Arrington Watkins designed and provided Construction Administration on the City of Phoenix Police Training Academy Tactical Village. This 7,255 sf facility will assist in training recruits in realistic settings. The Tactical Village contains a simulated apartment, residence, convenience store, ATM kiosk and strip mall.
