Sustainable Design

Designing energy efficient and sustainable structures is part of our core business approach and our culture.  Arrington Watkins not only looks at the effects buildings and structures have on the environment, but also the affects humans have on waste production and material resources. The United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development defines sustainability as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” The concept of sustainability is to say, at the least, complex. Experience also tells us that sustainability is not a one-size fits all approach. Arrington Watkins is committed to working through solutions that best serve the needs of our clients while challenging the project teams to be innovative. In this way green design becomes more of a mindset rather than any system of components. When we approach projects in this manner we can achieve results that contribute to the world becoming sustainable.
